Our Whole Child Curriculum
Why Whole Child?
Too many children from lower, or poor, socio-economic backgrounds, enter school without the emotional and behavioral skill-sets needed to succeed academically in the 21st century, global economy (Jones & Bouffard, 2012). A variety of meta-analyses studies have been conducted and reveal that all students show gains in academic performance when academic curriculum is integrated with social and emotional learning; hence, the Whole Child is educated. However, in socio-economically impoverished areas, studies also reveal that when holistically integrated, Whole Child-based curricula approaches are implemented, these students, on average, made an 11 percentile gain in academic performance. |

SHAKTI Warriors - An Innovative, Whole Child Development Curriculum
HHA has chosen an innovative and compelling whole child curriculum, called SHAKTI Warriors, to implement within our Educational Partners infrastructure.
HHA chose SHAKTI Warriors (SW) because it speaks the language of children with an inspiring curriculum that is relevant to youth's life experiences. The SW curriculum takes a multi-platform approach and supports current educational trends such as: online gaming, social media, interactive technology, realistic role modeling, experiential (hands-on) lesson plans, a board game, graphic novels, positive motivational techniques and age-appropriate articles covering pertinent topics to children. All of these components help connect youth to issues they face on a daily basis and encourage them to rise above circumstance and develop the passion for life long learning.
The SHAKTI Warriors Curriculum consists of the following modules:
• SHAKTI Warriors Academy – both an online education curriculum and a set of hands on
learning tools focused in the area of social and emotional learning (SEL) and healthy lifestyle literacy
• SHAKTI S.T.E.A.M. Academy - an online education curriculum focused in the area of Science,
Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
