The From the Barrio Foundation is a non-profit corporation committed
to addressing conditions that help youth avoid choices that may lead to violence, delinquency, drugs and gangs, while promoting education, valuing a sense of pride and accomplishment, and advocating social values that foster improved self-esteem by using the books, From the Barrio to the Board Room, Mi Barrio, and curriculum, From the Barrio to the Classroom. The books and curriculum are the tools, and Robert is the resource to inspire and motivate youth in our communities to understand their personal goals so they can live their hopes and dreams.
Since From the Barrio to the Board Room was first launched, Robert and the From the Barrio Foundation have dedicated their time and energy to helping schools, churches, youth prisons and other community based organizations to utilize the book as a teaching tool. The From the Barrio to the Classroom curriculum was developed so program participants could apply Robert’s experiences and choices to their own real life situations. The end result is an increased focus on education, making better personal choices, with more of an emphasis on pride and accomplishment, perseverance, and hard work.
